A 17th Century Japanese Kakiemon Porcelain Bowl, Arita or Kakiemon Kilns c.1670 – 1690. This small Kakiemon flower shaped bowl with Nigoshide (milky white) glaze depicts a branch of flowering prunus with scattered prunus flowerheads . Kakiemon porcelain, like the present example, was popular in Japan but was also exported to Europe. An important collection of Kakiemon porcelain is on display at Burghley House.
