A delicate and fragrant jasmine green tea, consisting of buds and young leaves covered with a layer of downy white hairs. Due to its white appearance, we call this tea ‘Snow Jasmine’. How our Snow Jasmine tea is made Our Snow Jasmine tea is made by scenting tea leaves with jasmine blossoms. The process involves several steps that require attention to detail and quality control to achieve the perfect aroma and flavor. Firstly, we select high-quality green tea, with a delicate and fresh taste that complements the floral aroma of jasmine. These tea leaves and buds are picked during the Spring months when they contain a high level of amino acids, as this contributes to a richer flavor and fragrance. Next, the fresh jasmine flowers are picked, typically before sunrise when the buds are still closed. The flowers are then spread over the tea in a thin layer, releasing their aroma. This process is repeated several steps until a desired aroma strength is achieved. Once ready, the tea leaves are carefully separated from the jasmine blossoms. For our tea, we’ve decided to leave some flowers in the tea for its beautiful aesthetics. History of Jasmine Scenting This practice of scenting jasmine tea developed in China during the Ming dynasty, where it was initially used to mask the bitter taste of green tea. Jasmine was soon discovered to have its own unique flavor and fragrance, leading to the creation of jasmine tea as a distinct category of tea. Today jasmine tea is widely popular in Asia and beyond, with varying regional styles and preferences.
