ShareTweetSharePin It! What is PenaShield? PenaShield is a penetrating fungicide, termiticide, and wood preservative designed to control wood decay and insect damage on both exterior and interior wood surfaces. PenaShield is an EPA-registered wood preservative (EPA Reg. No. 12008-41-2) containing 8.5% disodium octaborate tetrahydrate, dissolved in ethylene glycol and water. PenaShield is a ready-to-use product applied to bare wood. It controls and helps prevent infestations of wood-destroying organisms, including subterranean termites, wood-boring beetles, carpenter ants, and decay fungi. While it may take several days to fully control an active infestation, termites that ingest treated wood or come into direct contact with the product will die. As a termiticide, this product is not intended to replace full structural treatment. Key Features Dual-Action Protection – Controls and prevents wood decay and insect damage, including termites, carpenter ants, wood-boring beetles, and fungi. Deep-Penetrating Formula – Absorbs into bare wood to protect from within, rather than sitting on the surface. EPA-Registered Reliability – Proven wood preservative with 8.5% disodium octaborate tetrahydrate (EPA Reg. No. 12008-41-2). Ready-to-Use & Easy Application – No mixing required; applies بسهولة with brush or low-pressure sprayer. Interior & Exterior Versatility – Suitable for a wide range of wood surfaces, with excellent coverage (approx. 150–250 sq ft per gallon). Application Techniques and Coverage PenaShield should only be applied to clean, dry, bare wood where no intact water-repellent barrier is present. Apply using a brush or a low-pressure sprayer. Coverage will vary depending on the porosity of the wood, typically ranging from 150 to 250 square feet per gallon. If applying a second coat, allow the first coat to dry for approximately 20 minutes before reapplying. When applying a stain or topcoat, allow PenaShield to dry for 3–5 days. Cleanup Clean tools and equipment with soap and water immediately after use. Always rinse or flush equipment and lines thoroughly with water. Storage and Disposal Store PenaShield in a dry location. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Protect from freezing. Waste from the use of PenaShield may be disposed of on-site or at an approved waste disposal facility.     Click here for this product’s Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
