Description Collector Series Mammoth Travel Chess Set This is a set of Collector Series Mammoth Travel Chess Set. The pegged chessmen are crafted from 20,000-year-old, natural and black-stained Mammoth tusk. The Collector Series set was designed in 1996 and copyrighted by Frank Camaratta. The King stands 1-3/8″ tall. The detail of each of these miniature masterpieces is incredible, particularly the Knight. The chessmen are secured to the chessboard by pegs. The chess pieces hare housed in a wooden box with a drawer which pulls out to expose the chessboard. The lid is then inverted and will slide back under the chessboard to keep the unit together as a single piece without the annoyance of a flap hindering play or the problem of where to keep the case when using the chess set. This design is based on the original Staunton chessmen design registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and exclusively manufactured by Jaques of London. The chessmen were referred to as the Jaques Paulsen Style chessmen made between 1952 and 1854 in the Camaratta Codex.
