Kui Huang Duan Ni Clay This teapot is made from authentic yellow Duan Ni clay and has a beautiful coarse yellow surface with white and black dots. Such clay is also known as Kui Huang Duan Ni which is a fairly rare raw material: Only 1% of the mined Yixing ore is Kui Huang Duan Ni. Many Yixing collectors love this clay type as offers the meaty texture of Duan Ni and smoothness of Zhu Ni. Kui Huang Duan Ni is known to be one of the easier to process types of clay. The raw materials don’t require processing in a stone mill. Instead, after aging the clay for several years, it can be beaten into soft clay with excellent viscosity and plasticity. Thus, it’s directly ready to be used to make teapots out of it. Kui Huang Duan Ni is also very stable with only a shrinkage rate of 8-10% after oven-firing at 1170ºC. This results in higher success rates compared to teapots made from other clay types. Certified Yixing Artist: Pengfei Zhao This teapot is made by Pengfei Zhao. The teapot is stamped with his seals of authenticity on 5 different places. A certificate of authenticity is included.
