An authentic Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) oolong tea from Anxi, Fujian. This light oolong tea features a thick texture and a smooth, vegetal and floral aroma. It owes its name to a legend in which the Goddess of Mercy gave a tea shoot to a poor farmer. He planted it in its garden, and cultivated the finest tea with it. The word ‘iron’ in its name refers to the fact that this tea is rolled into tight pellets, and when it’s dropped in a teapot, you’ll hear a sound similar to dropping small pieces of iron. Due to its difficult pronunciation, this tea is also often referred to as TGY. In some Chinese dialects it’s also written like Ti Kuan Yin.
